Smoke and Coffee by zephy0 Smoke and Coffee by zephy0
Saw a recent study on biological links between smoking and coffee (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10…)

Smoking and coffee have strong genetic connections, meaning it might be harder to quit one if you're a heavy user of the other. I also found out that coffee/smoke smell is part of why they're highly addictive because the smell contains chemicals that inhibits certain enzymes (MAOs) from breaking down neurotransmitters (the chemicals in our brain that helps us feel excited, happy, sleepy etc)

I wonder if there's a connection between the 2

well, signing off with "don't do drugs, kids"!

Love your work as always. Beautiful depiction~  It's also interesting because I've never found smoking and drinking coffee addictive. Cigarette smoke smells disgusting to me so it's completely out of the question. I do like the smell of coffee a lot and I like drinking it but I don't find it addictive. Like, I might drink coffee everyday for a couple of weeks and then I may not be in the mood for coffee for a month.

i thought it was because they both enhance a physical. Coffee gives off cafine making the senses alert and nicotine in cigarettes have a chemical that awaken the senses as well.

i like everything about this but the white things above there heads, i suppose those are supposed to be the 'neurotransmitters'. But well, they look like tooth :D

By the way, is the boy on the right not addicted yet ? because you didn't give him cofee nor a cigarette. I am wondering whether he is going to be corrupted or actually is already addicted to one of em.

8/10

the study isolated two variables-but there are more-food also has  sigificant content of nicotine and stimulants. Diet plays a part  that should not be ignored. Exercise releases pain subduing chemicals, enhancing feelings,a substitute for the principals.

Caffeine is the widest and perhaps most unregulated drug there is. Those with a heavy dependence on caffeine can suffer some pretty significant withdrawal symptoms if they quit cold turkey.

I love coffee and drink lots of it (I also love the smell of coffee), but I hate the smell of cigarettes (I never smoked and I'll probably never start because I can't stand the smell). Interesting that there might be a connection between these two ...
Amazing art, btw :)

Well, they're both stimulants; they both affect the human brain in vaguely, roughly the same way.

I've never heard that connection before but that's very interesting, I'll have to look into that at some point. I really like all the stuff going on in this picture, especially that chain of DNA around their necks linking them together almost like they're slaves to their addictions. At first, I thought the two of them were friends or possibly related until I saw a comment here that said one is the the person before the addicitions and the other is the one AFTER, which I definitely think I enjoyed the most. Overall, awesome job with this! :)
